Parent Champions
A proven engagement model
Despite significant investment in Early Years
provision and efforts to reduce Child Poverty over the past decade,
a significant group of target beneficiaries have failed to access
the support available to them.
Pinnacle People operate an engagement and
progression programme which uses peer to peer activities to achieve
significant increases in awareness, engagement and
progression.
This service is our Parent Champions model,
designed with extensive input from parents that have experience of
using formal childcare and who are able to sell the benefits to
other parents that are not accessing information or guidance on
local childcare.
Our Parent Champion model is proven to have a
positive impact on children, families and the wider community by
raising awareness and improving access to mainstream childcare
provision, factors which have a positive impact on deprived or
marginalised families.
Accessing childcare helps parents take the
first steps back to active involvement in the community through
education, training, volunteering or employment, improving the
economic well-being of families. Children benefit from formal
childcare by developing their language and social skills through
interaction with other children of the same age.
Our service extends the reach of these
benefits further into the community than other engagement
activities.
Since November 2008 we have delivered the
Parent Champion service for the London Boroughs of
Camden and Newham engaging over 1,000 parents with information and
awareness of available childcare.
